ALS M&D was founded in 2007 as a division of the ALS League.
The goal of M&D is to provide people living with ALS (pALS) with both financial and material support quickly and efficiently.

One of the reasons for establishing this dedicated service in 2007 was the long waiting times at government agencies. Due to administrative hurdles at public institutions, people with ALS often have to wait too long to receive their assistive devices. As a result, these devices are provided too late for patients whose condition is continuously progressing.
Additionally, you must be registered with the relevant authorities before your 65th birthday to qualify for subsidies and/or reimbursements for the purchase of assistive devices. If you are diagnosed with ALS after the age of 65, you must cover the costs yourself.
