As of April 1st, there is a new application procedure for the Personal Budget for Assistance (PVB).
The PVB replaces the former Personal Assistance Budget (PAB). For now, this new procedure only applies to individuals aged 17 and older. People under the age of 17 can still temporarily apply for a PAB.
For ALS patients, there is an expedited procedure, meaning you won’t have to wait long to receive your PVB. It is best to contact a multidisciplinary team or the VAPH (Flemish Agency for Persons with a Disability) office in your province (see useful contacts). Additionally, we recommend booking an appointment with your neurologist as soon as possible to have the required VAPH medical forms completed.
We would also like to draw your attention to the Support Organizations (Bijstandsorganisaties). These are officially recognized by the VAPH and can help you, at a low cost, to manage your budget in a way that best suits your needs and preferences.
Contact details can be found on the VAPH website.
